Members of Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age and Off! are forming a new supergroup that doesn't have a name yet.

Billboard reports that Soundgarden's Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd, Alain Johannes -- who was in Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures -- and Off!'s Dimitri Coats are getting together for a side project.

Coats told Billboard that the group has "laid down the foundation for, like, 10 songs." He added that he will sing, as will Johannes. "We might invite a couple of guests at some point," said.

The "fun little side project" -- which hasn't actually finished any music yet -- came together earlier this year after Coats and drummer Cameron began corresponding on Facebook. "I was like, 'Dude! I'm a huge fan!'" Coats said. "I told him, 'I consider myself to be a really excellent air drummer, and I have trouble air-drumming to some of your fills.' And he was like, 'Wow, that means a lot coming from you, because I'm a huge fan of yours.' We became instant friends."

Cameron then told Coats about something he, Shepherd and Johannes had been kicking around. "So I was like, 'Jeez, let me in on that,'" Coats told Billboard. "They invited me to Seattle, and it was really incredible. There was just an instant chemistry and a really creative and open situation where everybody's passing around the guitar and throwing in ideas. I sort of felt like I was in the grunge Beatles."

Coats said the stuff they've recorded so far is "really heavy and doomy, but it’s really all across the board.” And apparently it will sound a little like the stuff you already know by these guys.

“It’s a little bit more laid-back than I would’ve thought, but in a good way," Coats summed up. "There’s some kind of heavy, bluesy moments and then there’s some really beautiful stuff too. It’s a little bit like 'Superunknown,' that kind of era of Soundgarden, mixed with Alain’s kind of Stevie Wonder vibe."

Hopefully, this Queens of the Stone Age side project will be as awesome as this one:
