Brad Whitford no doubt misses playing with Joe Perry while Aerosmith is on hiatus — but he's still keeping some pretty good company.

As you can see in the fan-shot video footage above, Whitford — who's currently on tour with Derek St. Holmes behind the duo's new Reunion LP — was joined by Slash during Whitford/St. Holmes' stop in Nashville last night. According to Blabbermouth, the Guns N' Roses guitarist chipped in on the evening's performances of "Red House" and "Stranglehold." Slash later tweeted about the show, saying the band "sound f---ing great."

Slash's surprise appearance was itself a reunion of sorts. Brent Fitz, the drummer in Slash's solo band Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, is touring with Whitford/St. Holmes while Slash is on the road with GNR. "We really needed a guy with the right feel," explained St. Holmes in a press release announcing Fitz's arrival. "Brent brings that with him along with the power that kicks these songs out like they were meant to be. We can’t wait to get out there with him."

As Aerosmith fans are aware, Slash toured with Whitford when GNR shared a bill with the group in the late '80s — and again years later, when he joined up for Aerosmith's Let Rock Rule dates in 2014. "We got down on our knees and begged him," laughed Whitford when asked how the pairing came about. "We’ve been friends with Slash ever since we toured with [Guns ‘N’ Roses] way back when. And we just thought that would be a pretty good rock show. We’re big fans, and so we kind of begged him a little bit. He didn’t want to do it at first."

Slash's Nashville cameo also repays the guest appearance Whitford made during his stop in Charlotte in February 2011, when the two teamed up to play "Walkin' the Dog." Check out video from that performance below.
