And now for the least surprising study you'll ever see. Casper and Cheyenne are two of the windiest places in America. According to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the average annual wind speed of Wyoming's two biggest cities rank them both among the 10 windiest cities in the contiguous 48 states.

With an average annual wind speed of 12.9 miles per hour, Cheyenne is the fifth windiest city in the nation. Casper finished in seventh place with an average annual wind speed of 12.7 miles per hour.

As windy as it is here in Wyoming, it's a lot worse in Mount Washington, New Hampshire. With an incredible average annual wind speed of 35.1 miles per hour, Mount Washington more than doubles Blue Hill, Massachusetts, which ranked second nationally. Dodge City, Kansas, and Amarillo, Texas, rounded out the top five.

Interestingly enough, the so called Windy City of Chicago isn't even among the ten windiest cities in the country.
