Casper Sees Daily Record Snowfall From Recent Storm
A snowstorm that zeroed in on the Casper area Monday dropped record amounts of snow for December 5th. According to meteorologist Don Day of Day Weather, conditions concentrated the storm in the Casper region, dropping 7.1 inches of snow at the airport. That beat the old December 5th record of 5.8 inches set in 1978 and other areas of Casper reported up to ten inches of snowfall. The rainfall, or moisture levels, also set a new record with 0.39 inches. The previous record was 0.34 inches set in 1956.
The storm leaves a bitter cold forecast in its wake, with forecasts calling for temperatures in the single digits and teens the couple of days along with dangerous wind chill factors between 15 and 20 degrees below zero.
