He may be the "Prince of Darkness," but if his fans have their way, Ozzy Osbourne may actually be saluted by real royalty. The Birmingham Mail reports that an Australian woman has launched an online petition in an attempt to get Ozzy Osbourne nominated for knighthood.

Helen Maidiotis initially sought to have all four original members of Black Sabbath knighted, but then realized it was best to focus her energies on getting one particular member saluted first. She recently secured her 500th signatory. In her campaign, Maidiotis wrote, "Ozzy has been an inspiration to many great musicians over the last 40 years. He is a credit to his country and I believe that a knighthood for Ozzy is one well deserved and long overdue."

In his career, Osbourne has sold over 100 million albums worldwide as a solo artist and a member of Black Sabbath. Maidiotis has also created a Facebook page to support the campaign to knight Ozzy. Meanwhile, the actual petition to get Osbourne knighted can be seen and signed here.

Black Sabbath recently finished recording their upcoming album, '13,' which is expected in June. The band is planning performances around the world, including stops in Australia and at Ozzfest Japan.
