One person is dead following a structure fire at a trailer home in Mills early Monday morning.

The identity of the female victim will be released once family has been notified, according to a statement from the Natrona County Coroner's Office.

Interim Chief Justin Melin of the Mills Fire Department told K2 Radio News that firefighters were dispatched at 3 a.m. to the Lariat Trailer Court at 4201 W. Yellowstone Highway.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the trailer home to be fully-involved and began suppression efforts. A Mills police officer was pulling one person out from inside the trailer home, and firefighters were told that at least one more person was inside.

A second person could not be retrieved from the trailer home, and perished inside.

Melin described the trailer as a total loss. He said crews were able to extinguish the flames by 3:30 a.m.

No cause of death has been released.

Also on Monday, at 9:30 a.m., Mills firefighters were dispatched to a fairly small fire that started beneath the skirting of another trailer home in the 500 block of N. 2nd Ave. It was extinguished quickly with no injuries.

While the cause has not been confirmed, Melin said it is a possible electrical fire that was caused by faulty wiring or faulty heat tape.
