Natrona County Public Library Hires Lisa Scroggins As Its New Director
The Natrona County Public Library has hired Lisa Scroggins of Rocksprings, Texas, as the new director beginning May 2, according to a news release from library spokesman Nathan McGregor on Friday.
The library's board of directors hired Scroggins after interviewing her and two other candidates in February.
"When the Library Board met with Lisa, we were immediately taken by her enthusiasm and excitement for libraries as well as her commitment to the Library's place in our community," board president Hampton O'Neill said in the news release.
"Lisa has a wealth of experience, not only in education, business, and managing a library, but also in working with the public," O'Neill said. "We look forward to her leadership of the Library."
Scroggins has served as the director of the Claud H. Gilmer Memorial Library in Rocksprings, Texas, since 2008. She is also a former classroom educator, and school district business manager. She graduated from Sul Ross State University in Texas, and earned her master’s degree in library science from the University of North Texas.
Scroggins is impressed by the library staff and does not expect to make any immediate changes, according to the news release. "Instead, I'm interested in exploring new opportunities, building on what they’ve already achieved."
She and her husband Al have a 10-year-old daughter.
Scroggins succeeds Bill Nelson, who served as director from June 1999 until his retirement in August.
Interim Director Kate Mutch will continue to lead the library until Scroggins arrives in May. Mutch then will resume her role as the library's public services librarian.
