Metallica just announced some big news! The acclaimed and turbulent documentary 'Metallica: Some Kind of Monster' is about to be re-released. The long out-of-print film will be issued as a two-disc Blu-Ray on Nov. 24.

'Some Kind of Monster' premiered on Jan. 24, 2004 at the Sundance Film Festival. The documentary captures three very tumultuous years of Metallica's over three-decade long career, starting shortly after bassist Jason Newsted made his 2001 departure.

'Some Kind of Monster' famously depicts battles with addiction, domestic life, backlash from fans and the near-disintegration of Metallica during the making of 'St. Anger.' It was directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky (Brother's Keeper, Paradise Lost 1-3) and won the 2004 Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary Feature.

For the 10th anniversary of 'Some Kind of Monster,' the film will also be released digitally and via Video on Demand. The updated version will also contain a 25-minute follow-up piece, 'Metallica: This Monster Lives,' which was filmed at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival during the release of the band's second film, 'Metallica: Through the Never.'

In other Metallica news, on Black Friday Record Store Day, (Nov. 28) Metallica will release the "First Pass" (studio) version of the fresh song 'Lords of Summer' on vinyl. Side A will feature a previously unreleased version recorded at the Rock in Rome Sonisphere Festival, while Side B will feature a laser etching of the Metallica "M" logo. To buy the piece of vinyl, head over to Metallica's official website or visit RecordStoreDay.com to find participating shops.
