A Natrona County man died at a shooting range west of Casper on Thursday, according to a news release from the Natrona County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the recreational shooting area on Coal Mountain Road at 12:51 p.m. Thursday.

They found a male, later identified as 46-year-old James Wright, who was declared deceased at the scene.

Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office investigators determined from evidence at the scene and subsequent interviews that Wright died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No foul play is suspected.

The Sheriff's Office has notified Wright's family. No autopsy is scheduled.
