Loudwire Podcast #1 - Zakk Wylde

Welcome to the first episode of the Loudwire Podcast! Our inaugural guest is legendary Black Label Society frontman and former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, and we spoke to him about a ton of topics during our hour-long chat.

Loudwire Podcasts hosts Graham Hartmann and Joe DiVita started off by getting Zakk’s reaction to snagging an Aug. 15 opening slot on Guns N’ Roses’ colossal reunion tour. The conversation quickly moved into Zakk’s opinion on the Guns reunion and how Axl Rose fits into his new role as AC/DC’s live vocalist.

Episode One of the Loudwire Podcast also boasts the introductory edition of ‘Rocker vs. Writer’ - a debate segment where we discuss rock and metal’s most essential topics with our favorite musicians. Our first subject is an argument seemingly as old as time: Ozzy-era Black Sabbath vs. Dio-era Black Sabbath! Zakk opted to defend the Ozzy years, while Loudwire’s Joe DiVita rallied behind the immortal Ronnie James Dio.

We finished the show off with Zakk reflecting on some of his career’s funniest moments, including a scene from the 2004 MTV reality show Battle for Ozzfest that nearly erupted into violence. Of course, no Zakk appearance would be complete without a classic Ozzy Osbourne story, so stay tuned until the show’s end to hear yet another brilliant Ozzy anecdote from Zakk.
