Jack White Says Musicians Have to Be Hustlers Now
As reported yesterday, Jack White is preparing for a big interview, so big that it's on Dan Rather's TV program, 'The Big Interview.' Set to premiere tonight (Sept. 16) on AXS TV, Rather has shared another teaser video to whet the appetites of fans across the country. Check it out above.
Calling White "one of the great guitar heroes of our time," Rather appears to get an unprecedented level of access to the enigmatic rock star. In fact, part of the interview focuses on that mysterious persona. "Even when sometimes it gets me upset, I still kind of enjoy that they misunderstand," White tells Rather about people not getting him. "It's funny to me."
Another piece of the interview highlighted in the teaser is White's record label, Third Man Records. "You sort of have to be a hustler now, just to be a musician," he says about today's musical environment. "I think you could've just been a songwriter at a certain time and everyone else would do that around you. I doubt Frank Sinatra cared about what was on his album cover."
Visit AXS TV's official website here for details on 'The Big Interview,' and make sure to set your DVRs for 8PM ET tonight to catch Rather diving into all things White-related.
