I’m under the impression that laughter truly is the best medicine. It’s funny how easy it is to get in a good mood just by smiling. A couple times a week, we sit in our cubicles and listen to a full comedy album. Sometimes they're good, sometimes...well, we won't discus that. John Mulaney is an American actor and comedian best known for his work as a writer on Saturday Night Live and as a standup comedian. In Fall of 2014, he will air his own show, Mulaney, a semi-autobiographical series about his life as a standup comedian.

In addition to his work on SNL, Mulaney is a prolific stand-up comedian. He has performed once on Live at Gotham, once on Conan, once on Jimmy Kimmel Live, twice on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, twice on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and once on Comedy Central Presents. Mulaney also released a stand-up comedy album entitled The Top Part in 2009, and a stand-up comedy special called New In Town in 2012. Both were produced with Comedy Central.

In May 2013, NBC passed on picking up Mulaney's semi-autobiographical sitcom pilot, titled Mulaney. However, in June 2013, Fox Broadcasting Company ordered a new script as the network reviews whether to order the production of several episodes. In October 2013, Fox announced that they picked up the show for a six-episode season order. John Mulaney is the creator, producer, and writer of his eponymous series. Additionally, he is one of the principal actors along with Martin Short.
