Funny Or Die’s Take On Tom Petty-Sam Smith ‘Stay With Me’ Song Credit [Video]

This is one of those videos that, if Tom Petty were to see it, it would probably bum him out pretty badly.

A couple of weeks ago, we learned Petty was given a writing credit on Sam Smith's hit "Stay With Me" because of its similarities to Petty's song "I Won't Back Down."

The website Funny or Die did some serious investigating into songs that Petty has written throughout his career and noticed many, MANY similarities between his songs and previously-written songs from other artists.

Ouch. Burn.

The world will now sit and collectively await Petty's response.
