Dave Mustaine has gone on record stating he hopes the current incarnation of Megadeth, featuring drummer Dirk Verbeuren, will be the one which sticks until the band’s eventual end.

In a recent chat with his Twitter followers, Dave set a loose timeline on what he believes to be the lifespan of Megadeth. As of now, Mustaine’s hope is to record two more albums and tour for roughly another six years. If Megadeth’s currently lineup of Mustaine, David Ellefson, Kiko Loureiro and Dirk Verbeuren were to last those six years, it would be second-most stable kinship in Megadeth’s history after the Friedman/Menza years.

Though Mustaine is hopeful about this lineup standing the test of time, he also told Chile’s Radio Futuro (see above) that people make too big a deal of change. “Iron Maiden had a bunch of lineup changes. They've had more than one singer; they've had three singers. We've only had one. Slayer’s had lineup changes, Metallica’s had lineup changes, so I don't really put too much importance on lineup changes,” Mustaine says. “If somebody doesn't wanna be here, then f--k 'em! You know what I mean?”

"I don't wanna make any changes anymore. I want this to be my band lineup until the end,” Mustaine adds, though he gives Chris Adler due credit for the Lamb of God drummer’s work on Dystopia. “Chris was a session guy, and he's always been in Lamb of God. And although the idea would have been great for him to finish up with Lamb of God and join Megadeth, we don't wanna have somebody that's in two bands, because I think it's just too demanding.”

Megadeth will soon tour the U.S. for a run of shows with Amon Amarth, Suicidal TendenciesMetal Church and Havok. Click here for the full list of dates.
