Being in Slipknot is one of the busiest full time jobs in metal, but singer Corey Taylor is a workaholic and beyond. Fans can begin looking forward to new music from Stone Sour, Taylor's other band, which will serve as the follow-up to the well-received House of Gold & Bones — Part 1 and Part 2. Taylor recently spoke with Billboard and gave an update on what to expect from the forthcoming album.

"It's some of the best s--t we've ever written," the singer began, going on to describe what makes him so excited about the music. "I'm [chomping] at the bit to record it and get it ready to go. The cool thing is that it's got a lot of different directions, but at it's core it's very hard rock and I mean that in an almost sort of modern / classic sense. There are some hints of punk in there. There's some cool hard rock / heavy metal."

Explaining how Stone Sour ventured out of their typical sonic realm, Taylor continued, "There's just all these really cool elements that we've never really allowed ourselves to go into. We're really to kind of push even further with this. It'll feel like it's all over the map, but it will be very unifying when everyone hears it. It's exciting, man."

Taylor also provided guest vocals on a new Korn song, off their increasingly anticipated new album, The Serenity in Suffering. Detailing how producer Nick Raskulinecz called him about doing a guest spot, the frontman said, "I literally booked the flight the next day and flew down and did it. I just belted it out and we just kind of went for it. It was cool." He also got a taste of the record and stated, "It was like this old school kind of Korn vibe to it, from the first two albums that I absolutely loved. I can't wait for people to hear this. It's some of the best s--t that they've written in years. It is so good people are gonna lose their f--king minds."

Both Slipknot and Korn are out on summer co-headlining tours with Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie respectively. See if these tours will be coming to a city near you at our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
