The tower by the Wells Fargo Bank, 234 E. First St., apparently is being dismantled, K2 Radio has learned.

The 177-foot tower has been part of Casper's skyline for 50 years.

The main bank building was designed by prominent mid-century modern architect Charles Deaton, who designed Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., and the house featured in Woody Allen's comedy "Sleeper."

The timetable for the dismantling and if the tower will be replaced are not yet known.

We will have more information about this story as it becomes available.
