The Casper woman who has admitted to stealing hundreds of memorial vases from grave sites in the Casper area was arrested Thursday evening on charges of shoplifting and trespassing.

Janna L. Szynskie, 51, will likely make her initial appearance on the new charges at 2 p.m. Friday in Natrona County Circuit Court.

Charging documents say a Casper police officer was sent to the Walmart on East Second Street at about 5 p.m. Thursday for a shoplifting call.

Dispatch advised that Walmart staff had Szynskie in the security office, and she had been banned from all Walmart properties in 2016.

Szynskie allegedly told the officer she was hungry and wanted some food. She said she did not know that she had been banned from Walmart. Had she known, Szynskie said, she wouldn't have returned to the store.

Szynskie said she thought the banning decision might have been from the "printer incident," but wasn't sure.

A loss prevention employee provided a receipt for the items stolen, valued at $83.57. The employee said she watched Szynskie load a shopping cart of items and try to walk out of the garden center doors without paying.

Szynskie was arrested and taken to jail.
