Casper Man Pleads To Stealing Car; He Was Caught Near Riverton

A Casper man with a long criminal history probably will serve a four- to seven-year prison term after a change of plea in Natrona County District Court on Wednesday.

Ronald Wayne Creb III pleaded guilty to one felony count of receiving stolen property in the hearing before District Court Judge Daniel Forgey.

In exchange for the plea, Creb's defense attorney Curtis Cheney and Assistant District Attorney Dan Itzen agreed to dismiss a second count of burglary.

Forgey is not obligated to accept the plea. He ordered a presentence investigation and will set a sentencing date later.

Creb remains in custody.

Court records said the case began Sept. 30 when a worker at Big Dawg Auto on East Yellowstone Highway reported a burglary. When she arrived, she found a window opened and a bicycle by the building. She found the drawers in her desk had been opened, a locked door had been pried open, kitchen cabinets were opened, and a key box had been opened.

A Honda Civic with temporary registration documents had been stolen, too, according to the affidavit.

At 11 a.m. Monday, Casper police received a call from the Riverton Police Department that they saw the Honda that was evading officers who stopped the chase on northbound U.S. Highway 20-16.

Ten minutes later, the Fremont County Sheriff's office received a report of a stolen Toyota Sequoia. Police responded to an address on North Mountain View Drive. There, officers found the Honda with temporary registration documents.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol saw the the Toyota on Highway 20-26, chased it, and finally stopped it with spike strips.
