A Casper man accused of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl denied two felony charges brought against him Wednesday morning in Natrona County District Court.

Alan Layne Farley, 45, pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor and incest. He could face up to 35 years imprisonment and $20,000 in fines if convicted on both counts.

Charging documents say on April 6, an Evansville police officer was sent to investigate the case. The victim's guardian reported the alleged abuse happened the previous Sunday, April 2.

The guardian reportedly said she had dropped the victim off around noon to spend time with Farley and the victim’s mother, who had just gotten out of prison. The mother had gotten permission to come to Casper to see the victim and her brothers.

While the mother was out with the victim's brothers, Farley wanted to "cuddle" with the victim. Farley started "touching her butt," the guardian reportedly told police, and at one point the victim was completely naked.

Farley was allegedly in his shirt and underwear, rubbing up against the victim. When the mother returned with the victim's brothers, she opened the door and Farley pulled the bedsheets over himself and the victim. The mother reportedly went back out the door and took the brothers with her.

The guardian told police this occurred all day on Sunday until she picked the victim up at about 7 p.m. Farley allegedly told the victim to not tell anyone what had happened, saying he "knows where everyone lives," according to the police affidavit.

The guardian also said Farley lived in Casper but did not have a present address, as he was staying with friends. She added the victim had been acting out since the visit with Farley and her mother. The victim reportedly said she doesn't like it when Farley wants to cuddle.

Later, the victim told a counselor what Farley allegedly did. The counselor and the child's guardian took the victim to the Evansville Police Department to file a report.

On April 10, the victim told a forensic interviewer at the Children's Advocacy Project that she had previously participated in a forensic interview regarding her mother's ex-boyfriend.

The victim told the interviewer she hadn't seen Farley in roughly six months, and on April 6 he wanted to "cuddle" with her in a recliner.

Farley allegedly grabbed her buttocks, so she tried to get up from the recliner to go swimming. Farley reportedly grabbed her arm and told her she couldn't leave. The victim sat back down and Farley continued to touch her.

At one point, after her mother walked in, the victim was able to move from the recliner to a bed. Farley then reportedly got into the bed with her.

Farley reportedly said, "You don't love me anymore?" The victim replied "Yes, I do, I just don't like it when you do that."

Farley allegedly replied, "Come over here and prove it."

The victim said she didn't want to and wasn't feeling well. She told the interviewer she didn't remember much after that. She said she couldn't recall whether she was completely naked, but knew she was, according to the affidavit. The victim said she was scared, and "froze."

At the interviewer's request, the victim was able to provide further details, saying she had seen a movie earlier on Sunday with her mother and Farley showed up later in the evening while they were swimming.

Having said previously that she didn't remember much, the victim was later able to give the interviewer further details about the alleged abuse. She said she "woke up" naked. Farley was also naked, on top of her, "going up and down."

She described Farley's tattoos, which police were able to confirm with an arrest record tattoo history.

Later, the victim told her guardian that Farley, before the incident, had asked her about getting her period. The victim reportedly feared she would become pregnant.

In court Monday, Natrona County District Court Judge Daniel Forgey granted a request from public defender Curtis Cheney for a bond modification. Farley’s sister had helped him post bond, and he wanted to go stay with her in Montana.

Farley remains free on $15,000 bond. His trial is set for Aug. 22.
