A Casper man allegedly tried to eat a small amount of cocaine after he was arrested for a DUI crash early Saturday.

Tyler Andrew Hasbrouck, 22, was booked on recommended charges of DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Court documents say four Casper police officers were called to an address on South Beech at 2:15 a.m. Saturday for a report of a drunk man laying in the front yard. The man subsequently got up and started walking westbound on Sixth Street.

The man who had reported the crash told police that his truck had been hit at some point. Officers saw gouges in the roadway, and followed those gouges south on Beech, then west on Seventh Street.

Further down on Seventh Street, a Dodge truck was parked partially on the side of the road. The truck's lights were on, and it was missing a tire due to "significant front passenger damage."

The driver of the Dodge, Hasbrouck, apparently didn't realize that he had wrecked the truck. Officers could smell alcohol on Hasbrouck.

When asked how much alcohol he had consumed that evening, Hasbrouck replied, "More than I could think."

Hasbrouck agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests, and was subsequently arrested for driving while under the influence.

A search of Hasbrouck's truck allegedly turned up medication, an open can of Coors Light and .26 grams of marijuana shatter.

Hasbrouck was taken to the Natrona County Detention Center. At about 9:20 a.m., deputies believed Hasbrouck was using cocaine inside the jail.

Deputies told a Casper police officer that they had seen Hasbrouck take something out of his pocket and start "eating it." A search of Hasbrouck's person turned up a small white plastic bag which contained a white powdery substance, and Hasbrouck allegedly admitted the substance was cocaine.

Hasbrouck told officers that he had been sitting in his cell when he found the bag in his pocket. He opened the bag and "tasted" the powder, recognizing it as cocaine. Hasbrouck allegedly said he had used cocaine in the past, but he couldn't recall buying or possessing the cocaine.

The cocaine allegedly weighed .73 grams.
