Summer is here! How about a picnic or barbeque in one of Casper’s parks?

Casper has a great selection of parks to enjoy, 44 to be exact. Casper city parks offer playgrounds, pools, trails, basketball courts, barbeque and picnic areas. Fort Caspar Park is host to Ft Caspar and it’s MuseumAmoco Park has fishing, white water park and a trail and Morad Park offers an off leash area for your canine friends. Washington Park has a pool, tennis, volleyball, playground and pavilions for picnics and barbeques. Just remember to go online and reserve your space with the city.

One thing to keep in mind when you plan your picnic is food safety. It’s important to keep your food out of the danger zone, which is between 40 and 140 degrees. Keep cold foods below 40 degrees, use ice or gel packs in coolers. Another great tip is to pack drinks in a separate cooler, so food doesn’t get too warm from being opened often. If your barbequing keep raw food away from ready to eat items to prevent cross contamination. Always pack plenty of hand cleaners and sanitizers. Keep an insulated cooler for warm foods and wrap them well until serving to keep temps above 140 degrees.

Last but not least remember that hot or cold food should not be left out for more than 1-2 hours.

Get outdoors and enjoy Casper’s great parks!
