They were in high demand before the big event, but what do you do with those Eclipse glasses now that Totality has come and gone? If you're not keeping them as a souvenir, you might consider donating them to Astronomers Without Borders and K2 Radio with Townsquare Media will help you do it.

The organization says they're working on a program that will redistribute the glasses to schools in South American and Asia, which will experience solar eclipses in 2019. According to the website Gizmodo, Astronomers Without Borders mission includes providing astronomy-related education and resources for developing countries. It raises money to purchase new glasses, but also wants to use the so-called "Great American Eclipse" as a chance to stockpile the glasses.

Astronomers Without Borders President Mike Simmons told Gizmodo, “This is an opportunity for schools to have a first-hand science experience that they might not otherwise have. Many schools in developing countries don’t have resources for science education and this is a rare opportunity that inspires students and teachers and shows them that science is something they can do. It can be a ray of hope for young people who don’t otherwise see a path to a career like this.”

Although they're still putting the program together, Astronomers Without Borders wants to get the word out before folks throw the glasses away. If you'd like to donate your Eclipse glasses, bring them to Townsquare Media  in Casper. We'll collect them and send them on when the programs are in place.
