One national television show about fishing will feature Casper early next year, and another national show about antiques is considering a visit here in 2017.

Shawn Houck of the local business Adbay told the Natrona County Travel and Tourism Council on Tuesday that a fishing show will highlight the area's angling opportunities.

"The TV series is called 'The Flyrod Chronicles,'" Houck said.

"They did shoot for an entire week in Casper, and the program will air on the Outdoor Network, which is a national network and it's available on cable systems all across the United States," he said.

The two episodes shot in Casper will air sometime between January and March, Houck said. The television show's crew also highlighted some other local activities like cycling, he added.

The Travel and Tourism Council is composed of members appointed by local governments and collects the 4 percent lodging sales tax revenues from local hotels. The Council promotes central Wyoming through its marketing arm the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

On Tuesday, CACVB staff member Daniel Fulton also told the Tourism Council that the popular PBS Antiques Roadshow is eyeing Casper for 2017.

"'Antiques Roadshow' has interests, big interests, in bringing their thing to Casper," Fulton said.

However, the show's popularity and the supporting crews would require a large area, he said. "The only place they could possibly do it is the (Natrona County) Fairgrounds."
