Step back in time for one of Casper's most beloved holiday traditions, the Candlelight Christmas at Fort Caspar. "We light up the fort buildings by candle-lantern, there will be a number of re-enactors both in the buildings and out on the grounds," says Museum manager Rick Young. "It's a chance to tour the fort at night. In the wintertime most people most everybody sees it in daylight, and in the summer, so it's a different way to see the fort and maybe get a glimpse of how they may have celebrated Christmas back in 1865."

Young says there will be a number of historical activities throughout the fort. You can talk to the soldiers, play a game of chance with the gambler, and shop at the general store. Be sure to dress for the weather but if you need warming up, Young says there are more activities inside the museum.
"There's going to be some crafts for the kids to do, we have a photo booth set up, and if it's particularly cold you can come back in the museum and warm up with some free hot chocolate and hot cider and cookies. It's a fun evening all around."

Candlelight Christmas at Fort Caspar is Saturday, December 3rd from 5:30 to 8:30 in the evening. It's free of charge.
