Bridge Repair Will Close Traffic at Shoshoni Bypass

Construction on the Salt Creek Highway bridge over U.S. Highway 20-26, known as the Shoshoni Bypass, will result in its closure to all traffic from April 6 to May 26, according to a news release from the Wyoming Department of Transportation on Tuesday.

The closure of the bridge on the highway -- Wyoming Highway 254 – also will affect the eastbound on- and off-ramps from U.S. Highway 20-26, which will be closed from April 6 to May 8.

During this time, access to Salt Creek Highway from the south will end at Opportunity Boulevard.

Access to the areas north of the Shoshoni Bypass, including the Port of Entry, will be available from Interstate 25 at the Wardwell exit.

Access to and from areas north of the intersection and bridge will be open until April 20.

On that date, the on- and off-ramps for westbound traffic will close and remain closed until May 26.

During this time, access to Salt Creek Highway from the north will end at Bypass Boulevard and the Port of Entry.

At the intersection of Howard Street and Salt Creek, a right-turn lane is being added to help with traffic congestion. Left-turn lanes on Salt Creek are also being constructed at Wardwell.

This is part of an ongoing project to repave the Shoshoni Bypass and expand Salt Creek Highway to five lanes through the area.

The closures will allow work to reconstruct and widen Salt Creek Highway to move more efficiently.

Full access through the interchange will reopen May 26.

After that, work will move northward from the westbound on/off-ramp intersection to the Port of Entry.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent. Please pay attention in all construction zones and follow posted speed limits.

The entire project is scheduled for completion by Oct. 31.
