Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston Reuniting for ‘Significant Other’
In what will probably result in a much more amusing film than the last time the two appeared on screen together, Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman are reuniting for a new comedy titled Significant Other. Bateman will direct, produce and co-star in the upcoming film with Aniston, who will also serve as executive producer. Based on the strength of Bateman’s directorial debut, Bad Words, we can at least take comfort knowing that this has to be better than The Switch, right?
Aniston will play the role of a controlling and successful Type-A businesswoman who is being eyed for a coveted CEO position. On the verge of securing the new title, there’s just one catch: Her prospective employers want to meet with her spouse, a messy and unsophisticated stay-at-home husband played by Bateman. Sure, it sounds like Bateman has typecast himself and Aniston as characters they’ve played before, but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
This isn’t the only Bateman-Aniston reunion on the horizon, as the pair are set to re-team in Office Christmas Party for The Switch directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck. Bateman recently helmed The Family Fang, his follow-up to 2013’s Bad Words, in which he co-stars with Nicole Kidman and Christopher Walken.
