Anthrax Officially Start New Album, Toast the Memory of Dimebag Darrell
While the anniversary of someone's death is typically a somber occasion, Anthrax chose not to let this day be a downer, as Dime would not have wanted that. Drummer Charlie Benante states in the band's newly posted video, "We know that today is Dec. 8 and we're feeling the loss of Dime, but one thing about Dime that you have to remember is that he always wanted you to celebrate it. And how do we celebrate it? We celebrate it with making music."
Guitarist Scott Ian adds, "We're here in the studio and we've officially started a brand new Anthrax record. So here's to Darrell. Raise a glass with us." Ian, Benante and bassist Frank Bello then invite veteran metal drummer John Tempesta into frame to join them in their tribute to Dimebag Darrell. You can check out the posting below.
Tempesta has a long-running relationship with Anthrax, having worked as a drum tech for Benante before seeing his career take off by playing with the likes of White Zombie, Rob Zombie, Exodus, Testament, The Cult and others. It is not clear whether Tempesta was just hanging out with the band or whether he will make some sort of guest appearance on their upcoming release.
