Anthrax have encountered a couple of pop culture phenomenons lately. The legendary thrash band took some time out from working on new music and touring around Europe to take advantage of an invite to check out the 'Game of Thrones' set, while drummer Charlie Benante recently hung out with Lady Gaga.

Guitarist Scott Ian, bassist Frank Bello and Benante all geeked out at the chance to roam around the 'Game of Thrones' set, which is based in Belfast, Ireland. Check out some of the photos below as they pick some weaponry and generally have an awesome time on the set.

And the 'Game of Thrones' visit is just the beginning of the fun they've been having. Drummer Charlie Benante recently got to spend some time with Lady Gaga hanging out backstage at the Summerfest show in Milwaukee, Wis.

Lady Gaga (yeah, that's her with a wig on in the photo above) sported an Anthrax t-shirt at the event and there's been a mutual fandom between both musicians for some time. Benante actually gave Lady Gaga the t-shirt a couple of years ago.

In other Anthrax news, Benante, who sat out the early part of Anthrax's European trek, is now back with the band to finish out their run. The drummer took some time off for additional physical therapy after undergoing surgery last year on his right hand. "I feel great," says Benante. "I can't wait to get out on the road and play again."
