AC/DC's Phil Rudd is currently serving a sentence of home detention, but it's his hope to return to the band where he made his name once that sentence is up. Speaking with Rolling Stone, Rudd reiterated his recent suggestions that he's getting back into shape and feeling fit and wants to resume playing.

"All I'm looking for is an opportunity to step back up," said Rudd. "Once I get back my freedom to travel, I'll hopefully be heading straight back to whatever they're doing. I feel great -- better than I've ever felt before. I'm very keen to get back in the saddle."

When asked if he's still a member of the band, a point that was debated during his sentencing, Rudd answered, "Me and everyone else says that, but that's not what Angus [Young] says. I don't want to upset Angus by saying the wrong thing. Me and Angus kicked serious ass and he knows if I was there, it would be better. I know he knows that, because I've proven it before. Just give me five minutes in a room with him and I'll get my job back, I promise ya."

Rudd says he was going through some hard things personally and did some things that he shouldn't have done. But he adds, "We've all got our cross to bear." He adds that it's been the status quo over the years that within the band, if you have a problem, you deal with it yourself. "I've got a problem, so I handle it myself," says Rudd. "You can't expect the band to cover over here, line up and say, 'This guy's great. When are you gonna go and make f---in ass of yourself again?'"

While nothing has been planned, Rudd is hoping to reunite with the band when their "Rock or Bust" tour hits Australia and New Zealand in November. He adds that he's never been more fit or more passionate about returning to the group.
