An 18-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars and two others are being sought in connection with a stabbing and robbery in south Cheyenne.

Laramie County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Capt. Linda Gesell says an 18-year-old man was walking in the area of Fox Farm Road and Avenue D around 5:20 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) when three men in a pickup pulled up next to him.

"One of the individuals jumped out and pulled the kid inside the truck," said Gesell. "That's when he was struck by a pipe and brass knuckles and stabbed in the left thigh."

Gesell says the victim tried to call 911, but the suspect, later identified as Ezequiel Vasquez, took his phone and smashed it and stole $500 from him before letting him go. The three men then took off.

Vasquez was arrested in the 400 block of Avenue D around 12:30 a.m. this (Thursday) morning on suspicion of kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, theft, destruction of property and interference with an emergency call.

Gesell says Vasquez was the "main actor" in the incident, but they're still seeking the other two men for questioning.

"Until we interview them we're not going to know exactly what their participation was in this, whether they're going to be charged with accessories after the fact or accessories to this," said Gesell. "We're still just trying to identify them and locate them."

Gesell says the victim was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center with a non-life-threatening stab wound, but she couldn't confirm whether or not he'd been released.
